Taipei 101 Tower - The 2nd Tallest Building of the World...

Sleep enought le. Time to PLAY again!.Cannot sleep for the whole day mah...
Went to Taipei 101 Tower (and some other places) in the noon and toured till night.. So proud to be able to visit the 2nd tallest building of the world. Of course took some pictures there la.

Taipei 101 Tower

Currently the 2nd tallest building in the world. The building is named Taipei 101 because of the 101 stories that it has. Futhermore, the name "101" has the meaning 101% and it also serves as a tribute to the digital age - namely the binary code, which uses 1s and 0s.

It is HUGE upclose...

Taken from the base of the world's tallest building, the Taipei 101 in Taiwan. The building is so tall that the top of it was actually in the clouds...

Taipei 101 Mall

Fourth floor has an open cafe area - very pretty. My favorite part is the green "shrubs" - privacy and decoration.

The entrance to the Taipei 101 observatory is on the 5th floor on the Taipei 101 Mall.

台北101展望台 - Taipei 101 ticket booth

Elevator to Taipei 101 observatory - took only 37 seconds!

We reached the 89th floor (where the observatory is located) in the blink of an eye (well okay, actually, 37 seconds, i blink slowly... okay?) !!! Currently the world's fastest elevator at 1010meters per minute.

Picture of XiYi Shopping Area and Taipei City Hall from top of Taipei 101

This is part of the building in the shape of a cloud (called "RuYi Yun," 如意雲 meaning lucky cloud).

home is where the heart is... =)

looks like a toy model?

風阻尼器 Damper
Currently the world's largest passive wind damper and the only one that's open for visitors to view, weighing 660 metric tons. It has a diameter of 5.5 meters and was made at the cost of NT$132 million ($6 million).

Pretty day ~~ =)

This pic shows one of the buildings of the Taipei World Trade Center. Kinda reminds me of an Aztec pyramid.

This pic is very similar to another photo taken in the day, showing Taipei City Hall and the Xinyi Shopping area.

新光三越 Shin Kong Mitsukoshi

Building A4. There's a Tailung Hands (a branch of Tokyu Hands from Japan) on one section of the 4th or 5th floor... I can spend hours and hours looking at the little things from the store...

Building A9

Building A8

Building A9, A11, and pedestrian walkway.

Green park near the XinYi Shopping Area

Bike lane at the XinYi Shopping Area

新光三越 Shin Kong Mitsukoshi walkway

There's a walkway that connect all the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Stores, Warner Village, New York New York, all the way to Taipei 101. I found it to be very useful - to avoid traffic lights, hide from the sun, and stay above the smog!

Food court (just a small portion)

 Taipei 101 at night

Seen from one of the open air court yards of the Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store (Building A11) - I believe it was on the 2nd or 3rd floor....
The color of Taipei 101 at night change according to each day of the week, like the colors of the rainbow. Mon = red, Tues = orange, and so on until Sun = purple.

Starbucks Coffee "eggroll"
as in the sweet/dessert type "eggroll," yummy!!

New York New York Dept Store
Mostly stores and merchandise geared toward younger crowd (but prices not as cheap as Ximen Shopping area).

Warner Village 華納威秀影城
Movie theatre, restaurants, game centers, shops, and food court. Weekends are packed with people.

Warner Village Walkway
Neo 19 Mall
Haven't been inside yet, but it should have trendy merchadise geared towards a younger crowd.

誠品書局 Eslite Bookstore @ night

This is one of my favorite bookstores in Taiwan. There are many branches, but this is the XinYi branch. The whole building has 8 floors (including 2 basement floors), of which 4 floors are books. I can spend hours browsing here...
