Singapore Chili Crabs @ No Signboard Seafood Restaurant, 414 Geylang Road
Had chilli crab with my friends tonight at No Signboard Seafood Restaurant located along geylang road.
I’d heard a lot of people saying about Geylang being the red-light district of Singapore. Dangerous, dirty, grimy and unpleasant. Erm… Obviously whoever said that has never really understood this area. Geylang is like a nice, pleasant neighbourhood compared to some other places.Obviously, you can also tell the type of clientele that frequents this restaurant from the cars and Valet service at the front.
Our waitress told us that the crabs weighed 7.5 kgs. I looked at Lil’ Chef and said, “I want to try two styles. The White Pepper Crab and the Chilli Crab.”
He looked at me like I had gone mad. “Erm… you know the crabs that we normally have at home? They’re about 500gm. Are you sure you can finish 7+ kg of crab?”
I scratched my head, agreeing with him, and we settle on 4 x 1 kg crabs, in the two different styles. We also ordered Chili Padi La la, and Baby Kailan with Garlic.
The White Pepper Crab arrived first and I must say, I loved the way the pepper tickled my nostrils.

I want one!
No Signboard Seafood Restaurant.
Their slogan is, “The name U named.” Loving the intentional ‘Singlish’.
The restaurant started off in humble beginnings. A small stall in Mattar Road Hawker Centre in the late 1970’s. As the name suggests, this stall had no signboard, just good, hearty seafood and the good grace of its patrons word of mouth.Our waitress told us that the crabs weighed 7.5 kgs. Ok, not so much tickled as shot up there!
The crab was very fresh, very fleshy and it was a pleasure to sit there peeling one leg after another.
We struck gold with the Chili Padi La La.
Savoury and spicy, you will lick every juicy morsel of each shell.
Of course, the Baby Kai Lan was stir fried to perfection, crunchy, green and in a very tasty garlic sauce.
Halfway through the White Pepper Crab, the Chili Crab arrived.
It looked great. Piping hot, in a thick, eggy sauce.
Tastewise, it was a lot sweeter than I expected, and didn’t have much kick. Again, the crab itself was wonderfully fresh, and the sauce was great to mop up with the side of fluffy Man Tau buns.

Dinner @ Diandin Leluk Thai Restaurant
We had dinner at the Serangoon Gardens Diandin Leluk Thai Restaurant just now and were quite impressed by their food.
The vermicelli seafood salad ($8) was perfectly done with a nice blend of salty, sour, and spicy flavours. It was served on an oval plate a little too small for it’s contents but that didn’t affect it’s taste.
The black pepper beef ($10) was tender and served on a hotplate with ginger, onions bulbs and shoots. Taste was rather ordinary I thought - something you can get from any coffeeshop “zhi char” stall.
The deep fried Sea Bass with Thai chilli sauce ($30) was the highlight of the night for me. It was crispy and tasty - almost melting in your mouth. The stomach of the fish did not taste the least bit “fishy” and the chilli was just the right amount of sweet and spicy.
The Tom Yum seafood soup ($10) is hot and sour - flavoured with lemon grass, lime juice, lime leaves and chilli. This is traditional spicy Thai soup and a must try in an authentic thai restaurant.
The bill came up to about $111.30 for the 6 of us with the above dishes, rice, an authentic Thai iced-tea, and a 20% discount. More info about Diandin Leluk Thai Restaurant @ http://www.diandinleluk.com./

Can anyone tell me how I should feel today?
Sometimes I really wonder... Why god always like to crash things together? First it happened on Otto's birthday, which also turned out to be Atinee's last day... And what now? Ah Pu and JJ birthday crashing with Jam and another girl singer's last day? What the hell man...
Didn't take a lot of pictures today... cos everyone was busy sobbing away behind... However, still managed to capture two...

Gone shopping...
Was shopping for wedding items with my client today. Shopped for wedding stationery, hair accessories and of course, a pair of matching wedding shoes for the gorgeous wedding gown and evening gown.
Speaking of wedding shoes, me myself also got 4 pairs. Not for me to wear, but to display in shop for matching samples only.
